Goodman breaks ground on Sydney data centre as global pipeline reaches $18 billion

Goodman Group has officially marked commencement of construction at Goodman’s SYD01 data centre at Artarmon, in northern Sydney. The 90MW site is one of several data centre developments Goodman is kicking off around the world, as it continues to roll out its $18 billion global development program. The facility combines a premium location, fast delivery of stable power capacity, and capitalises on Goodman’s global expertise in delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects.

SYD01 is a significant milestone in building out Goodman’s 1.3GW Australian power bank where it currently has seven stabilised data centres supporting hyperscale and enterprise customers. Globally, Goodman has a 6.0GW power bank across 16 metropolitan cities. This includes 0.7GW of stabilised assets delivered, and 0.4GW currently in development in supply-constrained markets.

Set on a 1.4-hectare site, just 10km from Sydney’s CBD, SYD01 has been designed as a highly resilient and reliable data centre with technology to deliver world class capacity in a Tier 1 market. The facility will be fully fitted and operated by Goodman, providing a total IT capacity of 61MW via five 12.2MW phases, supported by 90MW of secured utility power in a tightly held market.

The first phase of 12.2MW will be ready for service in Q2 2028, alongside other projects currently under construction in Goodman’s global pipeline including LAX01 Vernon in Los Angeles, HK10 in Hong Kong, and AMS01 in Amsterdam.

Jason Little, CEO Australia, Goodman, said:

SYD01 demonstrates how Goodman’s global data centre capability is being deployed in Australia to support the accelerating demand for AI and cloud services. Our ability to secure land, power and connectivity in Tier 1 markets, combined with more than 20 years of global experience in data centres, enables us to deliver infrastructure of this scale, speed and reliability.”
